Finnish Foundation of Veterinary Research

The purpose of the Finnish Foundation of Veterinary Research is to support and advance the following aims in Finland: veterinary research, practical veterinary work, and national health sciences performed by a veterinarian.

The Foundation was established in 1966, when the Finnish veterinary association donated the core funds from its scientific fund and Greta and Werner Heinonen-fund aimed for veterinary research.

AUTUMN GRANT APPLICATION PERIOD

The Finnish Veterinary Foundation was established in 1966, when the Finnish Veterinary Association transferred its scientific fund as initial capital, along with a fund donated by Greta and Werner Heinonen for veterinary research.

The purpose of the foundation is to support and develop veterinary research, practical veterinary medicine, and the public health work carried out by veterinarians in Finland.

The foundation is celebrating its 60th anniversary and is announcing €250,000 to be awarded in research and travel grants of varying sizes. Travel grants are primarily awarded to individuals who participate in a scientific meeting and present a report or poster there.

Grants are applied for via the online service at www.sels.fi, where application instructions are also available.

The application period is open from September 1 to September 30, 2026. If the applicant has not reported previously received grants according to the instructions, the application will not be processed. The use of the grant must be reported electronically at www.sels.fi.
