Finnish Foundation of Veterinary Research
The purpose of the Finnish Foundation of Veterinary Research is to support and advance the following aims in Finland: veterinary research, practical veterinary work, and national health sciences performed by a veterinarian.
The Foundation was established in 1966, when the Finnish veterinary association donated the core funds from its scientific fund and Greta and Werner Heinonen-fund aimed for veterinary research.

Grants of the Finnish Veterinary Foundation, Autumn 2026
The Finnish Veterinary Foundation (Suomen Eläinlääketieteen Säätiö) was established in 1966 when the Finnish Veterinary Association transferred its scientific fund as the foundation’s initial capital, together with a fund donated by Greta and Werner Heinonen to support veterinary research. The foundation’s purpose is to support and promote veterinary research, practical veterinary medicine, and public health work carried out by veterinarians in Finland.
The application period for the autumn grants has now ended. This year, the foundation is celebrating its 60th anniversary and announced a total of €250,000 in research and travel grants of varying sizes.
The grant recipients will be announced at the Veterinary Days (Eläinlääkäripäivät) on 11 November, and recipients will be informed of their awards prior to the announcement.
